Who is eligible for a Taglit-Birthright Israel trip?
Age Requirements
18 through 26 years old. Applicants must also be post high school.
Who is considered Jewish according to Taglit-Birthright Israel?
Anyone with at least one Jewish parent. Anyone who is actively practicing another religion other than Judaism is not eligible as long as they are still actively practicing that religion.
Prior Israel Visits
If you have been to Israel as part of a touring group, educational program, study program or an organized extended residential program since you were 12 years old, you are not eligible.
What programs disqualify me from participating in Birthright?
- Any trip taken with your school after the age of 12
- Any trip taken with Jewish youth organizations (including but not limited to NCSY, NFTY, BBYO, Young Judea)
- Any year course program in Israel
- Yeshiva / Seminary in Israel
- Having already participated in a Birthright trip
- Full Time Jewish Studies Programs (If you are enrolled in a full time Jewish Studies program in any institute of higher learning you are not eligible for a Taglit-Birthright Israel trip while you are still enrolled in the program)
I was born / have lived in Israel. Am I eligible for a Birthright trip?
If you were born in Israel, or have ever held an Israeli passport, you are not eligible for a Birthright trip unless you can prove that you left Israel before the age of 12 by using official documentation such as school transcripts.
What is considered a full time Jewish Studies Program?
You are exclusively enrolled in a full time program including but not limited to Jewish Teacher Training Programs, Jewish Studies Programs, Rabbinical Programs, Yeshiva/Seminary, and Jewish Communal Services Programs and the like.
