  • What is Taglit-Birthright Israel?

Taglit-Birthright Israel is the most significant Jewish philanthropic endeavor of its kind. The co-founders of the project have created a unique and unprecedented partnership between private philanthropists, the Government of Israel, Jewish federations and communities around the world. These partners believe that it is the right of everyone who is eligible to be offered a first-time visit to Israel as a gift from the Jewish people. Since the launch of the Taglit-Birthright Israel initiative in 1999, over 100,000 Jewish young adults have benefited from this unique opportunity through the tremendous generosity of the program's partners.

    What about safety and security?

Safety and security are our top priorities. Safety is enhanced by the fact that we are in a structured environment. We use our own tour buses and we do not use public transportation. Itineraries are carefully planned out according to safety and security concerns. Group leaders and guides are equipped at all times with cell phones and can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by our head office. In accordance with the Israeli Ministry of Education guidelines, each Sachlav Birthright trip is accompanied by two fully-trained Israeli armed guards/medics that are with the group at all times. Also, as required by Taglit-Birthright Israel rules and regulations, there is strictly no unsupervised free time in public areas. For more information about safety and security, click here.
