As nominated social media addict of my amazing Sachlav Birthright trip, I have different viewpoints from my other trip members [ie. every amazing moment must be captured & shared!]. Something we can all agree on though, was that the trip was by far the most unforgettable experience we have ever encountered. The friendships we made are irreplaceable, and I can hardly wait to see everyone again in the not so distant future. I am 22 years old and happened to be the oldest member on my trip. The age difference between my new found friends and I didn’t bother me at all.
Here’s why I chose to come to Israel: I always knew about Birthright and always thought I would eventually make my way to Israel with Birthright’s help, but I never thought this day would actually come. People used to nag me to register for the trip, and I would always push it aside and say I wasn’t ready yet. It wasn’t until quite recently when my mother passed away, that I finally realized I was ready. Although she passed away three years ago from cancer, she always wanted to go to Israel, and dreamed of me going to Israel. I couldn’t be happier to have fulfilled her dreams. The best part of the trip, was that we ended up visiting the Western Wall on her birthday. I could never compete with this breathtaking experience – and of course I had to capture it to remember it!
I couldn’t be happier that I went on this trip when I did. I met amazing people and had an amazing experience. They say everything happens for a reason, and I truly believe that. I visited Israel during the one week of the year where it rained nonstop, the one time it snowed in forever, and I still would never take this experience back for the world.
I posted multiple pictures on social medias of my trip. I have an album full of Facebook photos, and uploaded multiple pictures to Instagram as well. I couldn’t resist taking pictures. I wanted the memories to last forever, and the best way to keep those memories close, is being able to look at them whenever I want.
