10 Mistakes Made on Birthright Israel

More than 600 000 people have been on a free trip to Israel and how many are guilty of these same 10 mistakes made on Birthright Israel? Honestly, we'd rather not know. Instead, we've compiled a list to help you, the future traveler from making the same "Birthright Blunders". 1. Shaving before swimming in the Dead Sea Dipping your face or freshly shaved legs into the Dead Sea is kind of like taking an acid bath - it'll give you a sting you'll never forget. While we're talking about "the sting", we also strongly advise that you never attempt putting your head under water in the Dead Sea. Even if your eyes are closed, "the sting" still finds its way in, and you will reemerge convinced that you have been permanently blinded. 2. Falling "in love" too soon A lot can happen in 10 days, and a lot can change. Someone catches your eye on the first day, and by day 4 you've noticed they're a perpetual nose-picker. Avoid the awkwardness, keep things in the friends zone until you're sur

13 Birthright Israel Moments Which Are So Much Better IRL

You've seen it on the gram, you've heard about it from friends, but some things you've just gotta do for yourself. If you're a Jewish 20-something, going on Birthright Israel is one of those things. Here are some of the "magic moments", epic sights and enriching experiences which are so much better IRL, but for now we're serving them up for you in a blog!   1. The Birthright Israel Mega Event It's called "mega" for a reason. Prepare to see world famous performers, pyrotechnics, and maybe even the president! This event never lets the crowd down. 2. Heaps and heaps of jelly treats They're sold in abundance in the fresh food markets, and occupy their own food group in Israel. It's totally acceptable to scoop up a 4 LB bag, as long as you share with your friends! 3. Really dirty people happy to be covered in mud Nothing like coating your hide with nature's best mineral mud pack. Just let it dry, rinse and repeat, and you will feel like a new person. #DeadSea #Bliss

Birthright Israel Diaries

Raquel Gadaa kept a daily diary on her Birthright Israel trip where she documented her experience over 10 days. Now she's opened it up for us to get an insider perspective on the journey of a Birthright Israel trip participant. Thank you so much for sharing!   My Birthright Israel trip experience was unlike no other, which is something that can really be said for anyone who has been on a trip. One of the best things about Birthright Israel is that no one leaves with the same stories, but we all leave with 40 new friends and a different perspective on Israel. We also all leave having a bigger emotional bond with Israel, and the people we met while exploring it. While on my trip in August 2018, I took daily journals highlighting the things we did so that I would be able to look back at them when I get older. I don’t want to ever forget the amazing memories I made. Welcome to Israel: Day 1 of Birthright Israel, August 5th 2018 Day one of Birthright Israel felt lik

There are many differences between Amercans and Israelis. Here are 8 of the best!

Culture Shock: 8 Differences Between Israelis and Americans

Israel is a melting pot of cultures, with immigrants from around the globe coming together to call it home. With such a diverse population, it seems Israelis have created their own way of doing things. American tourists are often hit with an initial culture shock when they realize the extent of the differences between Israelis and Americans. 1. Being casual vs formal Would you wear jeans to a wedding, or flip flops to a job interview? In America you probably wouldn't think of it, but in Israel you could. Israeli culture is casual. Whether it's how Israelis dress for different occasions, or the way they interact with people in authority, they are generally casual people, and often see formality as unnecessary and even insincere. This is one of those differences between Israelis and Americans which will always be there, no matter what dress code is written on the invitation! via GIPHY 2. Being polite vs saying it how it is Israelis generally don't waste time candy coating an
